Sex Related OffensesPublic perception has led to a high amount of stigma and scrutiny for anyone arrested for a sex crime such as sexual assault. If you have been arrested for a sex crime and are convicted, not only will you face public scrutiny but you will also be subject to the strict laws that have been put into place including mandatory registration as a sex offender. Registration as a sex offender affects where you are able to live (you cannot live within 2000 feet of any school), employment, and immigration status among other things. It is extremely important that you contact an experienced criminal defense lawyer to protect your legal rights. Froelich Law Offices has nearly 20 years of combined legal experience providing professional and dedicated sexual assault defense representation to people throughout Wisconsin Contact our office by phone at 920.430.9640 to arrange for your free initial consultation. Contact an Experienced Defense AttorneyWe have represented people who have been accused of the following offenses:
Serious charges require serious representationIt is not a defense that the accused was mistaken about the victim’s age or that they did not know how old the victim was at the time of the offense. A minor child cannot consent to any sexual contact or intercourse under Wisconsin law. Consent is not an issue when a minor child is involved in a sexual assault case as children cannot legally provide consent. Sexual contact is defined under Wisconsin law as “the touching of any part of your body, or any object you control, with any of the other person’s ‘intimate parts’.” The State has the burden of proving that this conduct was committed with the intent to humiliate or receive sexual satisfaction. The law enforcement officers and social workers may typically interview an alleged victim and the accused. Many of the interviews are videotaped in order to document the allegations. In some cases, there will be follow-up interviews of other witnesses. There are cases where there may be a SANE exam (sexual assault nurse exam) to document any evidence. Some cases may also involve preparation of child protection reports. All of this information will be gathered by our experienced attorneys in preparing your case. False AccusationsWe understand that sometimes a person charged with a sex offense has been charged falsely or is facing mistaken identity issues. The public has a natural tendency to assume guilt regardless of the evidence. Our attorneys will look for inconsistencies in witness statements, forensic evidence and the credibility of witnesses. We know how sensitive these issues are and will aggressively investigate the claims against you while maintaining compassion and discretion.
