State, city and county authorities continue to investigate a collision between two vehicles that occurred late last Friday afternoon. In addition to shutting down the highway for several hours, the accident also killed one man and injured another.
The accident occurred in the community of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, at the intersection between Sugden Road and Highway 83. The highway reopened in the evening, three hours after the crash. Authorities intend to release more information pending the completion of their investigation.
Few details are available regarding the crash. The basic facts indicate that a 23-year-old man was heading south on Highway 83 when the vehicle he was driving reportedly struck the other. The 70-year-old man driving the other vehicle had been heading north on Highway 83 and was reportedly attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Sugden at the time of the collision.
The 70-year-old man who had been making a left turn received medical treatment at the scene for minor injuries. He did not require hospitalization. Unfortunately, the 23-year-old man who had been driving the other vehicle sustained severe injuries and died at the scene.
It is unclear whether either man was in violation of traffic laws at the time of the crash. There is no indication of whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the collision. No specifics are available as to the speed at which the southbound vehicle was traveling at the time that it reportedly collided with the vehicle attempting a left-hand turn.
